Friday evening (14th May 2021) was a landmark in the history of the group! We invested 16 new members into the group following a recruitment campaign after the Covid-19 pandemic had prevented us from being able to do Face to Face Scouting for over 12 months.

The New Members (12 Beavers 2 Cubs and two Adult Leaders) All joined the group after the successful re-start of Scouting when then government guidelines allowed us to meet again Face to Face.

The 11th Spen Valley Scout Group based in Hunsworth founded in 1947 has been teaching the young people of the local area Skills For Life through a variety of activities however due to the Covid-19 pandemic has not been able to meet face to face since Lockdown 1 in March. The group has been meeting virtually each week via the Zoom platform however this has not been to everyone’s taste.

Michael Holroyd GSL at the 11th said “In total our recruitment campaign on Facebook has brought us around 20 new young people and 6 new Adult leaders/Helpers. It is fantastic that we have such an increase in our membership, this builds on the future of the group and now we are ready for the next challenges”

The group is supported by a fantastic set of leaders and a fantastic exec committee and we are now ready to carry on delivering #SkillsForLife into the future
